Day 10: Coming to Life
Objective: Students will demonstrate understanding of one stage in a life cycle of their choice through a 3D model
Materials:
On the board project all of the life cycles covered in this unit (butterfly, whitetail deer, frog, and plant) and ask students to examine each stage of each life cycle for the different animals/plant. Students will then be asked to pick one stage and sketch it in their science notebook. As they do this lay out all of the materials required for the 3D model. Once students have finished their drawing tell them that they must design and build a 3D life cycle model of one stage of the animal or plant they chose to sketch. Provide plenty of time for students construct their models. Once they are complete students will present their life cycle to the class and identify which stage they chose to represent.
Differentiation:
N/A
Assessment:
Check students' models for understanding of the stage they choose
Resources:

- pipe cleaners
- glue
- yarn/string
- straws
- feathers
- poster board or construction paper
- craft sticks
- egg crates
- twist ties
- wiggle eyes
- markers/pencils
